Over a decade ago, a friend was telling me how distraught she felt knowing a home she'd lived in at one point might be destroyed by fires ravaging the area.
I tried to comfort her but had no idea what to say. She asked how I would feel if my childhood home went up in flames and while I knew what she wanted me to say, I said my truth.
As long as my parents and pets were okay I wouldn't care about the physical place. Partly because I'd wanted nothing more than to get away from the physical place for so long. My childhood home was a reminder of all the times I felt trapped and spent living on eggshells, waiting for the next outburst.
For me, home has always been felt in the safety I feel with certain people. It may be a short list but I treasure the people in my life that feel like home.
What was more difficult for me was to create a home within myself.
To crave uninterrupted, distraction free time to be fully present with myself and to feel at peace.
That was how I felt after my first breathwork session and that's why when I finally experienced that level of peace WITHIN myself, I knew I had to create that experience for others.
Maybe when you first read that question about what you think of when you think of home you thought of sounds and smells that feel like home. Maybe you thought of moments with loved ones. Maybe you thought of a physical home.
Now I invite you to think about what home feels like INSIDE you.
When do you feel safest with yourself? When do you feel the most connected to yourself?
What if you always had a way to return home to yourself regardless of what's happening outside of you?
That's what I'm offering for you this Sunday at 7:30pm EST. This month's group breathwork session is 'Coming Home to Yourself' and will be a guided somatic journey out of your head and into your body to reconnect with your home. Your true north if you will.
The session will be recorded so you can use the session anytime you feel disconnected from yourself and in need of a reset.
Whether you join the session or not, I hope you take the time to answer the questions I asked of you about home. We all need a place we call home. Why not let it be within ourselves?
Breathe easy,
Rosanna
